Emergency Vehicle Operations - NFPA 1002
- At Cherry Creek Fire Department, we
ensure our members are fully prepared to operate emergency vehicles
safely and confidently. Once members have completed their Air Brakes through ICBC, they can enrol in our Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) training program. This is held to the NFPA 1002 standard.
- This
hands-on training covers the safe driving of emergency vehicles under
various conditions, defensive driving techniques, and operation of the
vehicle-mounted pumps and equipment. Members learn how to navigate
real-world scenarios, manage vehicle controls under pressure, understand
friction loss, appliances and perform critical pump operations on
scene.
- Through this program, our firefighters gain the essential skills and experience needed to protect themselves, their team, and their community while operating department apparatus - safely, effectively, and professionally.
