1. OFC (Office of the Fire Commissioner) Exterior Certification Program
- The OFC Exterior Certification is designed for firefighters who wish to focus on exterior firefighting skills. This program provides training in areas such as:
- PPE/ SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
- Fireground operations (outside the structure)
- Water supply and hose handling
- Fire behavior and tactics
- This certification is ideal for those who want to specialize in exterior firefighting, contributing to team efforts in managing wildfires, vehicle fires, and exterior structure fires.
2. OFC (Office of the Fire Commissioner) Interior Certification Program
- The OFC Interior Certification is geared toward those who are interested in structural firefighting within buildings. This program covers advanced techniques for:
- Fire suppression within structures
- Search and rescue in confined spaces
- Firefighter Survival
- Forcible Entry
- Firefighters who complete this program are trained to enter burning structures safely and work under challenging conditions to rescue victims and control fires from within.
3. NFPA 1001 FF 1 & 2 Pro Board Certification (Full-Service Firefighter)
- The NFPA 1001 FF 1 & 2 Pro Board Certification is a comprehensive certification that is recognized globally and is often required for full-service firefighter positions. This program includes:
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II standards for structural firefighting
- Advanced fire suppression techniques
- Hazardous materials awareness and operations
- This certification is achieved through an accredited organization such as VIERA (Vancouver Island Emergency Response Academy) or JIBC (Justice Institute of British Columbia), ensuring the highest standards in training and recognition.
- Ideal for those aiming become fully certified firefighters who can handle all aspects of fire service, hazardous materials, and full-scale firefighting operations.
